Air Conditioning Design

System selection, thermal load calculations, equipment scheduling. VRF, chilled water, split systems, and packaged units.

💨

Ventilation Design

Fresh air, exhaust, kitchen ventilation, car park ventilation. AS 1668.2 compliant designs.

NCC Energy Efficiency

HVAC documented to meet the NCC 2025 energy efficiency provisions for mechanical systems. Section J reports and JV3 modelling are by a separate energy consultant, and we coordinate with them.

The difference between a generalist and a specialist

Large multi-discipline firms spread their attention across dozens of services. Your HVAC design gets handed to a graduate, reviewed by a senior who may not have time to look closely, and delivered as one small part of a bigger machine. The result is often generic designs that cost more to build than they need to.

CCC Engineering is different. HVAC is our core discipline and accounts for 80% of what we do. Every mechanical design is produced by an experienced engineer who has personally designed systems across commercial offices, retail fit-outs, industrial warehouses, restaurants, gyms, and medical centres. You get direct access to the person designing your project.

That means faster turnaround, practical system selections that contractors can price competitively, and designs that account for real-world installation constraints. No layers of project managers between you and the engineer doing the work.

Common questions

How much does commercial HVAC design cost in Sydney?

Most commercial HVAC design projects fall between $5,000 and $25,000. A small tenancy fitout is usually $3,000 to $8,000. A mid sized commercial building is typically $8,000 to $25,000. Larger or more complex buildings run higher. We give you a fixed fee before any work starts.

What is the difference between HVAC design and HVAC drafting?

Design is the engineering: load calculations, system selection, duct and pipe sizing, and compliance with the NCC and AS 1668. Drafting is producing the drawings that show it. We do both, so the drawings match the engineering and the certifier gets one coordinated package.

How long does an HVAC design take?

A typical commercial design takes about three weeks from the day we receive the architectural drawings. Small fitouts can be quicker. The program starts when we have the drawings we need, not when the fee is accepted.

Do I need a mechanical engineer for a CDC or construction certificate?

Usually yes. Certifiers ask for mechanical drawings and a design certificate to show the ventilation and air conditioning meet the NCC and AS 1668. We produce both, and we deal with the certifier directly if questions come back.
